Praying For Our Schools & Our Nation

March 09, 2021
By Diana Schmidt

We continue to rejoice! We have been able to have in person learning here on campus with little interruption! Will you please join me in prayer for the schools who have not been able to open their doors since the shut down?

“Children absolutely need to return to in-school learning for their healthy development and well-being, and so safety in schools and in the community must be a priority,” AAP President Lee Savio Beers, M.D., FAAP, said in a news release. “We know that some children are really suffering without the support of in-person classroom experiences or adequate technology at home. We need governments at the state and federal levels to prioritize funding the needed safety accommodations, such as improving ventilation systems and providing personal protective equipment for teachers and staff.”

My hearts are broken for the families who are still struggling with homeschooling, working and all the other financial burdens COVID 19 has brought on American families. As I flipped the calendar from February to March I couldn’t help but reminisce on this past year.

The parable of Peter walking on water toward Jesus has been a Bible story that I have heard from as long as I can remember. For those not familiar with the story Jesus called one of his disciples, Peter, to step out of the safety of a boat into the stormy weather towards Jesus. While Peter kept his eyes, focus and faith on Jesus he was able to miraculously walk on water safely toward His Savior. However, as Peter began to become distracted by the threatening storm swirling around him he switched his focus from Jesus to the troublesome world that was surrounding him.

I myself have taken my eyes off Jesus at times throughout this past year. I have cried out to Jesus in desperation, I have doubted, I have questioned. But as soon as I put my FULL trust in Jesus and focus on HIM I am filled with an indescribable peace and trust. God knew in March 2020 all the difficulties schools, churches and families would face in this coming year. I find my rest and solace in knowing there is nothing I can do that God will not be right there by my side.

So please join me in boldly praying for all schools across our great nation to be able to fully reopen. Please join me in praying for our nation. That God will guide every decision maker and that they may lean on Him alone. Let us not take our eyes off our great and powerful God in the midst of this storm we find ourselves in.

In closing, I’m reminded of one of my favorite quotes, “If you want to hear God laugh, tell Him your plans.”  This past year was most definitely not how I would have planned it! And yet I know God’s plan for Hanford Chrisitian School and our country is better than anything I could dream of.
