Theme for 2017 - 2018

Creating Community

Our theme for the 2017-18 school year is “Creating Community.” In connection with the theme, Colossians 3:12-15 was chosen as the theme Scripture verse.

In the book of Genesis chapter 2 we read about how, after the creation of the world and man,  God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” Then God created woman, and together with man they were created to live in community with one another. Yet, that is not all God had to say about community. Throughout Scripture one can find the importance God places on his people to live as a community of believers. The author Paul Tripp writes, "We weren’t created to be independent, autonomous, or self-sufficient. We were made to live in a humble, worshipful, and loving dependency upon God and in a loving and humble interdependency with others." So as we begin our year together, let us join hands and walk faithfully as God leads and guides our family, our community at HCS.
